2024 Road Construction North Wall-Danish Way

UPDATE

Northeast Asphalt will be paving Danish Way today along with some driveways. Northeast will continue paving North Avenue on Monday and finish later in the week.

A message from the Public Works Department 09-13-2024

Northeast Asphalt will be fine grading North Avenue and Danish Way today and they will finish fine grading Monday September 16th. Asphalt paving is scheduled for late Monday or Tuesday morning. Paving is expected to be completed by the end of next week. Please use caution when traveling through the work zone and utilize alternate routes if possible. Due to the nature of the work, there will be a significant amount of construction vehicles and crews within the construction limits.

During the paving process, there may be temporary disruptions, including limited access to driveways. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and will work to minimize these disruptions as much as possible. For your safety, follow directions given by the contractors when near the construction zone. Asphalt and asphaltic material are extremely hot, do not walk on or near fresh asphalt. Avoid driving on fresh asphalt or oil as it may coat your vehicle and is difficult to remove. Obey all signage and direction given by the contractor.

A message from the Public Works Department

North Ave. will be under construction until September 13th. School traffic will be allowed to use North Ave. during construction however there may be times when traffic may experience some minor delays.

Pedestrians and motorists using North Avenue should proceed with caution being that it will be an active work zone.

Update 08-23-2024

This week Kruczek was able to prep the driveway to the Denmark Middle School for curb and gutter and asphalt. Sommers Concrete has been on site to set string line, and today they began slip forming the curb and gutter starting toward the east end of the project working west on the south side of North Ave. There will be construction vehicles on the side of the roadway as the curb and gutter is poured as well as residents losing access to their driveways. Traffic will be able to pass these vehicles on the side of the roadway. Curb and gutter typically will take seven days to cure enough to hold vehicle traffic.

Next week schedule should include Sommers finishing any curb and gutter that is not being gapped to allow access to the Rod and Gun Club and the prepping and hopefully pouring of the driveway aprons. Concrete aprons will have the same cure time as the curb and gutter.

Update 08-15-2024

Kruczek was able to finish all the utility work this week. Tomorrow will be spent installing two culverts and grading behind the proposed curb and gutter. Sommer's is scheduled to be on site possibly tomorrow and next week to slip line the curb and gutter throughout the entire project. Residents will be notified when driveway access will be lost and for how long.

Update 08-08-2024

There may be road closures at the intersection of North Wall Street and North Avenue Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10

This week Kruczek spent most of their time on North Ave working on the road construction west of N. Wall St. The rest of this week and weekend will be the same. A water main tie-in and water service relay are scheduled for early next week following a passing bacteria test. Road excavation in the intersection of N. Wall St and North Ave should begin early next week, also. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Update 07-25-2024

Kruczek should finish the base layer of road construction on North Ave east of N. Wall St tomorrow. They have intentions to work in the intersection on Monday (7/29/24) to perform a watermain tie-in and a hydrant removal for relocation. A flagger will be on site if needed, and a pole truck should be on site to hold a power pole. The remainder of next week will be spent on finishing the storm sewer in the intersection and the watermain relay west of the intersection.

Update 07-18-2024

Kruczek has spent the week working on road construction. The breaker run should be completed from the intersection at N. Wall St to the eastern entrance to The Rod and Gun Club for the entire width of the road by the end of today. The proposed walk on the south side of North Ave has also been graded over the same distance. Several fiber utilities have been relocated in the intersection.

Next week should bring more road construction as the crew works east. I will make you aware if the crew is working in the intersection of N. Wall St and North Ave, but I do not think Kruczek will get that far next week. I you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Please be aware that there may be temporary interruptions in traffic flow at the intersection of North Avenue and North Wall Street during road construction.

North Avenue Update

Kruczek has completed the storm sewer on North Ave east of N. Wall St. The remainder of this week and all next week will consist of road construction. The current plan is to work on excavating one lane starting at N. Wall St heading east to the project limits with trucking coming from N. Wall St, not Maribel Rd. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

North Avenue/Danish Way updates to date, July 3, 2024

Here are the updates to date. The 12" water main extension to the east of N. Wall St has been completed and pressure tested. The storm sewer will be approximately 90% completed east of N. Wall St after today. Areas of the intersection are scheduled to be excavated starting next week with a flagger on site. Excavation of the roadway to subgrade east of N. Wall St will also begin next week. The contractor is aware of the Thursday night event at The Rod and Gun Club, so the lot will be accessible. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

  • Kruczek is going to be working in the intersection of Wall Street and North Ave on Monday.  It will be down to 1 lane traffic for North Avenue and Wall street.  Kruczek is planning on having a flagger there during the lane closures.
  • Kruczek will be starting on roadway excavation next week which will include the removal of existing material down to subgrade and placing stone for the new roadway starting on the East side of the Wall Street intersection with North Avenue and will continue to the Eastern project limits.

Questions and Answers regarding construction:

Q & A (Questions in Red, Engineer response in Black)

Q: We shoot every Thursday night starting at 6pm will the club’s driveways be open either one or both so our members have access?

A: One driveway will be closed at a time. Access will be provided at all times except when crews are working directly in front of driveway locations. Any long-term access change will be communicated by the contractor 24 hrs in advance. Driveway closures will occur during curb and gutter, concrete driveway approach and sidewalk work, the closures will be limited to a maximum timeframe of approximately 4 weeks. Construction will be staged so that driveways are closed on one side of the road at a time.

Q: Will there be any cost or expense billed to the club for any of this improvement to the roadway?

A: No. The only exception would be if lead water services are found to be present. The Village does not have any records indicating that lead water services exist within the project limits.

Q: I am assuming there will be power & sewer shut offs during part of this construction we would just need to know if will affect our Thursday league shoots?

A: No anticipated power shut-offs during construction. Sewer service will be maintained during construction.

Q: Any dates that the road will be closed off that we will not have access to the club?  Need to know so if we need to cancel a week of trap.

A: No full closures are anticipated.

Q: Some on the board wanted to know if there was a site map of the construction available?

A: We can provide plan sheets showing the limits of the project.

Q: The roadway will be widened after construction completed correct? If so will there be any parking available on the new road?

A: North Avenue will be widened and curb and gutter will be added. Parking will not be permitted on the road.
